Shrinking Tempdb Database in SQL Server

Hello everyone,

In this article, I will try to give information about shrinking the Tempdb database in SQL Server.

In SQL Server, in some cases, you may want to shrink the Tempdb database.

You can easily do this using the code below.

CHECKPOINT;
GO
DBCC DROPCLEANBUFFERS;
GO

DBCC FREEPROCCACHE;
GO

DBCC FREESYSTEMCACHE('ALL');
GO

DBCC FREESESSIONCACHE;
GO

DBCC SHRINKFILE(TEMPDEV, 20480);
GO

Warning: Do not do this if you do not have experience with the live system.
